Main
Lodi, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
reviewed the "Environmental Site:Assessment
Division ' (PHS/EHD) hasii
and Structure Inspection" report prepared by Blymyer; Engineers
dated September 15, 1989, the J.H. Kleinfelder and Associates
reports dated August 13, 1985 and March 7, 1985, sample results
from Canonie ,Engineers, and other information in our Underground
Storage Tank file for this site. The Blymyer Engineers -report was
a summary of their review of the Kleinfelder= reports, no site work
was performed in 1989.'y
An inspection. report dated February 14, 1985:., completed;by. PHS/EHD
staff documented that a 500 gallon gasoline tank removed from the
site had.,a lk" by 1," !chole in the bottom of it. The former tank
location :i was excavated to thirteen (13) feet ' and gasoline
contaminated soil was noted.
On February 19, 1985, Kleinfelder drilled a boring adjacent 'to the
former tank excavation'l (pit) to a maximum depth of twenty=one (21)4
;
feet. A "soil sample;: taken at fifteen+ (15) feet below .ground
surface was analyzed by Canonie Engineers: Results evidenced seven
(7) parts ;`per million (ppm) as all other peaks quantitated as
benzene. On February 27, 1985, Kleinfelder drilled a second '-boring
located in the former tank pit. Gasoline odor was noted at "
thirteen , (13) feet andlEseventeen (17) festt
. Soil samples taken a
seventeen i(17) feet and nineteen (19) feet below ground surface
were anaiyzed by Canorile Engineers. Thea- sample results .were non-
detect at a detection !limit of one (1) ppm: The detection limit
recommended for use today is .005 ppm. Sandy soil was reported to
exist to a depth of 11eighteen (18) feet below ground surface.`
Contaminants can migrate easily in sandy soil so PHS/EHD ''is not
confident . that contamination does not exist given`; the high
detection limit used at the time.
on March'120; 1985, Kleinfelder placed a temporary Monitoring well
south ofthe tank pit. , PHS/EHD has no record on the construction
of this well or a log °of the boring.
