PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
JOGi KHANNA M.D.,M.P.H.
Health Officer
P.O. Box 2009 (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) • Stockton, California 95201
(209) 468-3400
C -7t
ANN ARNEY JAN2 2 1993
650 MANAGEMENT CORPORATION
2121 SAN JACINTO TOWER STE 1060
DALLAS TX 75201
RE: Diamond Lumber SITE CODE: 2292
224 N. Main
Lodi, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the letter dated October 23, 1992 and the Quarterly Groundwater
Monitoring" report dated October 1992 prepared by Steffen, Robertson and Kirsten for
the above referenced site.
PHS/EHD concurs that containerized soil from the monitoring well installation can be
spread over non-asphalt areas of the site.
Since the purged water from the monitoring wells evidences lead content above Federal
and State Maximum Contaminant levels for drinking water PHS/EHD does not concur
with its disposal over site soils. You may contact the City of Lodi Public Works
Department for permission to dispose of the contaminated water to the public sewer.
If disposal to the public sewer is not approved the purged water must be removed from
the site by an authorized company under manifest and copies of receipts should be
provided to PHS/EHD.
Lead was again detected in water samples from monitoring wells one and three.
Quarterly monitoring and sampling should continue at the site.
Gradient determination is important in determining if monitoring wells are correctly
placed at a site. The groundwater gradients are slight in San Joaquin County and are
influenced by operation of nearby wells. PHS/EHD has not, received the survey of wells
located within 2000 feet of the site to date. Please submit this information in the next
quarterly report.
A Dtvisinn of san Joaquin Counry Health Pare Services
