Diamond Lumber•Lodi Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring _Pale 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Steffen Robertson and Kirsten Inc. (SRK) has been retained by the 650 Management Corporation
(current management of Diamond Lumber, Inc.) to perform the quarterly groundwater monitoring
of three monitoring wells installed by SRK at the Diamond Lumber facility located at 224 North Main
Street, Lodi, California. The Scope of Work included sampling three groundwater monitoring wells
to investigate the potential for groundwater contaminant migration from underground storage tanks
(USTs) that were removed from the site in 1985. The three groundwater monitoring wells were
installed by SRK in November, 1991, under the direct guidance of Ms. Margaret Lagorio, Senior
REHS, San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD).
Specific information regarding subsurface soil conditions and monitoring well construction details is
presented in SRK's Phase II Environmental Audit Report for this site dated December 1991.
This report addresses the sampling completed on September 1, 1992. Quarterly groundwater
sampling activities were performed by fully qualified SRK professionals under the technical guidance
and direct supervision of Rob D. Gwilym, an Environmental Geoscientist and registered
Environmental Professional (NAEP 1792) also registered as an Environmental Assessor in California
(0035) and certified by the American Institute of Professional Geologists (#4529). Geologic and
hydrogeologic aspects were completed under supervision and guidance of Greg W. Knell, California
Registered Geologist 4692.
10
r r;; 'tea 'f rf, r,1' ;► Cz 'i
 '1" GREGORY W.KNELL
-J
' C. An inspection report dated February 14,
1985, completed by San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) documented that it hole (1.5" by 1.25 ") was observed in the bottom of the 500-gallon
gasoline UST, along with leaking product. The former UST location was reportedly excavated to
thirteen feet and gasoline contaminated soil was observed.
On February 19 through March 20, 1985, J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates reportedly installed two test
holes and one monitoring wells. One test hole was installed at the former UST location (maximum
depth 20 feet),while the second boring was placed adjacent to the tank pit (maximum depth 21 feet).
The exact locations of the test holes are unknown. A temporary monitoring well was installed
approximately 5 feet south of the former USTs.
12 Steffen Robertson and Kirsten
