Ms'. Laurie A. CotuIla
San Joaquin County
Public Health Services
April 29, 1993
Page 3
To summarize, SEACOR believes that additional confirmatory soil borings are unwarranted based on the
following:
1. To confirm soil vapor extraction effectiveness,SEACOR located a confirmatory boring in the area
where the highest concentrations of petroleum Hydrocarbons were detected.
2. Soil sampling results from soil borings BH-1 and BH-2 located approximately 20 to 25 feet from
the center of the former excavation area show that subsurface soil within 25 feet from the center
of.the excavation.,were not significantly impacted by,.the.gasol.ine release(s). y
-3. . Given the relatively permeable soil types and soil vapor flow rates and vacuum achieved during
remediation, a radius of influence significantly greater than 25 feet from the extraction well
would be expected.
We request that you provide Mr. Kidd with a written response to this letter. Mr. Kidd is continuing to
cooperate with your, agency with respect to continued groundwater monitoring at the site; however, we
strongly believe that the issue of soil-contamination should be closed.
Please feel free to contact me at (415) 882-1548 or Mr. Kidd at(209) 369-3611 if you have any questions
or comments.
..Sincerely yours,
Science & Engineering Analysis Corporation
_ Bruce E.
