Lockeford
Preliminary Assessment Report
Public Health Services,Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the above referenced report
received January 14, 1991 and has the following comments:
1. The laboratory data sheets indicate total lead levels of 20ppm and 11ppm at 10 and 25 feet
respectively. Total lead Ievels which exceed 5ppm should be further analyzed using
California Code of Regulations, Title 22, waste extraction test (7421) to determine the
amount of extractable substance as set forth in Section 66699 of that code.
2. The laboratory data sheets also indicate detection limits substantially higher than those
outlined in the LUFT Manual and the Tri-Regional Guidelines. This does not affect the
progress of the site at this point, but closer adherence to those guideline documents must
be maintained for eventual closure consideration.
3. The leaching potential worksheet included in the report has been scored higher (42) than
our evaluation of the same worksheet. Based on a score of less than 40 points, the
maximum allowable residual levels of contaminants is lower.
The recommendations for further definition of the vertical and lateral extent of soil contamination as well
as determination of possible of groundwater contamination are warranted.
A work plan/proposal for additional investigative activities must be reviewed by PHS/EHD prior to the
commencement of this field work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Steven Schneider,REHS,of my staff at(209)468-3441.
Jogi Khanna, M. , M.P.H.
Health Offic
G
ne A.
