Margrave Property Work Plan Project No.148.2 October 29,1993 Page 3 2.2 Boring Logs A detailed log will be made of each boring. The information to be noted includes: sample depths,blow counts if continuous coring devise is not used, horizons of detectable contamination (detected by field methods),soil classification utilizing the Unified Soil Classification System and sediment description (color, texture, composition, hardness, moisture content, and post- depositional changes that have occurred in the sediments). 2.3 Cross Contamination Prevention All sample equipment (split spoon sampler or core tube, brass tubes etc. ) and auger (drilling rod, drilling bits, & auger, etc.) will be thoroughly cleaned before being used and between uses. Plastic gloves will be worn during sample collection and changed between all samples. 2.4 Chain of Custody Chain of Custody (CofQ forms are legal documents used to track the handling of samples All dates, times, persons and their companies will be listed from the time the sample is collected to its ultimate disposal. A CofC form will be filled out for all samples collected. The CofC will be tracked to ensure sample k integrity. 2.5 Sample Analysis Soil samples will be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and total xylenes (BTEX), EPA methods 8020 and 602, and for total volatile hydrocarbons- gasoline, EPA method 8015 modified. The analyses will be performed by GeoAnalytical Laboratories of Modesto., California State Certification#E757. 2.6 Data Reduction Analytical data will be integrated with the geological data gathered during field investigation. Cross sections will be prepared to illustrate the stratigraphy and the distribution of soil contamination. The cross sections may be used for interpreting :the extent of contamination.
