Mr. Harlin Knoll Project No. 2007-065-01
April 28, 2000
Page 2 j
Stratus will also install one air sparge well in the vicinity of the underground storage
tanks (USTs) as recommended in the RAP. The air sparge well will be connected to a
proposed soil vapor extraction and air sparge (SVEAS) system.
Scope of Work
Status has prepared the following scope of work to accomplish the objectives described
above. The scope of work has been subdivided into tasks 1 through 5 ,which provides
details for activities associatedr with that particular task. All geologic work will be
under the direct supervision of a State of California Registered Geologist and will be
conducted in accordance with standards established by the Tri-Regional Board
Guidelines for Hydrocarbon Site Assessment and Remediation (RWQCB 1991).
Task 1 Prefield Activities
Following approval of the workplan by SJCPHS, Stratus will initiate the following
activities:
• Obtain the necessary drilling permits from the SJCPHS,
• Obtain City encroachmentpermit to abandon MW-5.
• Prepare a site specific health and safety plan,
• Contact Underground Service Alert to locate underground utilities at and adjacent f
to the site,
• Retain and schedule a drilling contractor to advance soil borings and install wells.
Task 2 Install Monitoring Wells and Air Sparge Well
To assess the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater, activities outlined below
will be conducted. Appendices;A, Exploratory Boring and Well Installation Procedures
and Appendix B, Sampling and Analysis Procedures present detailed procedures
associated with the proposed activities.
Task 2A - Exploratory Borings
A licensed well driller will advance exploratory borings using 10-inch-diameter hollow-
stern augers at the proposed locations. Two borings will be advanced to approximately 45-
feet bgs and will be converted toy groundwater monitoring wells. A third boring, using 10-
inch-diameter hollow-stem augers, will be advanced to a depth of 45-feet bgs and will be ;
converted to an air sparge well.
CA65wrkp1n,doc Stratus E
