Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
RE: USA Petroleum Station # 65
2500 E. Lodi Avenue
Lodi, CA
Dear Ms. Turkatte:
This letter is in response to your request for an Remedial Action Plan for the above referenced
site. The last four quarter groundwater sampling results have shown non detect in five of the
eight groundwater monitoring wells to very low level contamination in three wells (MW-8, MW-
4, & MW-2). The groundwater has fluctuated approximately six feet since 1991. Inspite of the
high fluctuations in the watertable there is no significant changes in the contaminant
concentrations in groundwater. Also, all soil boring samples taken show less than detectable
hydrocarbon concentrations including the last boring drilled next to the tank area. These data
indicate that there is no significant soil contamination in the capillary fringe or the vadose zone.
However, there seems to be some residual contamination present in the MW-8 and MW-4 areas.
Per your request, USA will continue to sample all the wells on a quarterly basis, so that
adequate data be obtained for a remedial action plan. Pumping and treating the groundwater is
not a suitable alternative, as we will be depressing the water table further more and possibly
treating clean groundwater. USA is planning to conduct a one day vapor treatability test to
obtain more data to prepare a remedial action plan. A vapor treatability test work plan will be
submitted to you within 30 days. Please extend the deadline to submit the Remedial Action
Plan. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
If you have any questions please call me at (818) 865-9200 Ext 214.
Thank You.
Sincerely,
Srikanth Dasappa
Environmental Engineer
