Groundwater Gradient: 0.002 ft/ft
SVE SYSTEM QUARTERLY OPERATION AND PERFORMANCE
Equipment Inventory: 100 cfm Stealth Catalytic Oxidizer
Operating Mode: Shutdown pending SJVUAPCD application review
APCD Permit No.: N-903-2-0
TPH Concentration End of Period(lab): ---
Benzene Concentration End of Period(lab): ---
MTBE Concentration End of Period(lab): ---
Flow Rate End of Period: ---
HC Destroyed this Period(lab): ---
Cumulative HC Destroyed: 3467.25 lbs.
Cumulative flow: ---
Percent Time Operational: ---
DISCUSSION:
At the time of the fourth quarter monitoring event, groundwater was encountered in the monitoring wells at
depths ranging from approximately 44.00 to 46.59 feet below ground surface (bgs). Well S-2 was dry.
. Groundwater elevations in the monitoring wells decreased 1.23 to 1.98 feet since the third quarter 2002
sampling event. The general groundwater flow direction on November 8, 2002 was calculated to be
towards the south-southeast at an average gradient of 0.002 ft/ft, although radial groundwater flow was
observed onsite in the vicinity of well S-2. South-southeast groundwater flow direction has consistently
been observed during previous monitoring events.
TPHG was detected in well MW-3 and S-2; MTBE was detected in wells MW-1, MW-3, and S-2. The
highest concentration of TPHG (580 pg/L) was detected in well S-2, and the highest MTBE concentration
(15 µg/L) was detected in well MW-3. Benzene was not detected in any of the wells during the fourth
quarter 2002. TBA was detected in wells MW-2 (6.5 ttg/L) and MW-3 (14 pg/L). TPHG, benzene, or fuel
oxygenate compounds were not detected in wells MW-4 or MW-6 through MW-10.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Table 1 Groundwater Elevation and Analytical Summary
• Table 2 Groundwater Analytical Results for Oxygenates
• Figure 1 Site Location Map
• Figure 2 Groundwater Elevation Contour Map (Fourth Quarter 2002)
Figure 3 Groundwater Analytical Summary(Fourth Quarter 2002)
• Appendix A Field Data Sheets
• Appendix B Sampling and Analysis Procedures
• Appendix C Certified Analytical Reports and Chain-of-Custody Documentation
P:1USA Gasolinel00651Qtrly120021USA_65_4Q02.DOC 5TRATU5
