Box 1839,
Santa Monica, California 90406
(310 ) 452-6200 Fax ( 310 ) 450-4020
RE Sampling and documentation of MW4 at USA Petroleum, Station
#65, 2500 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi, CA for USA PETROLEM CORPORATION.
LOCATION
The site, USA Petroleum, Station #65 is located at 2500 West Lodz
Avenue, Lodi, California and lies in Sec. 10; T3S; R6E; MDB&M at
an elevation of approximately 371 .
PURPOSE & SCOPE
To sample, document and chain-of-custody deliver the water samples
from MW4 to a State of California certified laboratory. MW4 had
been paved over by asphalt and was not sampled during the most
recent quarterly monitoring, this well was restored to operable
condition by Western Geo-Engineers on September 15 , 1992 .
PROCEDURES
The ground water was sampled in the monitoring well (MW4 ) by a
Western Geo-Engineers (WEGE) geo-technician, working directly
under the supervision of California Registered Geologist #3037 , on
October 9 , 1992 Surface elevation, depth to water and ground
water elevation were recorded for the well (WEGE: TABLE 1) .
Western Geo--Engineers took a ground water sample of MW4 on October
9 , 1992 after purging the well of enough water that temperature,
pH and conductivity stabilized (see Field Notes in Appendix A) ;
the "purged" water was "contained" in a labeled, secured 55 gallon
drum on site. After purging, the well was allowed to recover, a
bailer was used to collect the sample. The BTEX sample and TFH
sample were placed in four 40 milliliter vials. ^ These" bottles are
supplied pre-cleaned to exact EPA protocols by the laboratory.
The samples were labeled as to station, well , time, and sampler,
and documented on the chain-of-custody sheet, then placed into an
ice chest and cooled to 4°C with ice. The samples were delivered
to a Matrix Environmental Laboratories (DHS# 1676 ) and chain-cf-
custody signed over to the gab
1
