Aldridge,RG
Senior Project Manager
Ultramar; Inc.
525 West Third Street
Hanford, CA 93230
Subject: Monitoring Well MW-4 Sampling Results
Beacon Station No. 492
470 North Main Street
Manteca, California
Dear Mr. Aldridge:
BSK&Associates (BSK)is pleased to present this letter summarizing the analytical results of a
groundwater sample obtained from monitoring well MW-4 at Beacon Station No. 492 in
Manteca, California(the Site). The work was conducted in accordance with a letter request from
the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD),
dated July 8, 1999. A site plan showing the monitoring well location is attached(Figure 1).
Field activities and analytical results are summarized below.
Field Activities
BSK purged and sampled monitoring well MW-4 on August 27, 1999. The monitoring well was
purged of a minimum of three well-volumes using a submersible electric pump. Water
temperature, conductivity, and pH parameters were measured after removal of each approximate
well volume. A water sample log is attached. Equipment used during purging and sampling
activities was cleaned with non-phosphate detergent wash and rinsed prior to use.
Subsequent to purging, a water sample was collected from the well using a clean disposable
bailer. The sample was labeled, placed in an ice chest cooled with "blue ice", and submitted to
Kiff Analytical LLC in Davis, California, for chemical analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPHg),benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, and methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) by EPA Method 8260B.
Purge water, cleaning water, and rinse water was stored on-site in a sealed and labeled DOT-
approved 55-gallon drum.
Analytical Results
The following table presents a summary of analytical results of the groundwater sample obtained
from monitoring well MW-4.
Geotechnical Engineering - Engineering Geology - Environmental Services - Construction Inspection &Testing - Analytical Testing
