A exclusion zone will be <br /> established approximately 10 feet around the Geoprobe van. Sidewalk will be closed and pedestrian <br /> traffic will be detoured across the street. No unauthorized person shall be allowed within this <br /> exclusion area. <br /> 4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site. <br /> SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS: <br /> Benzene 0.106 mg/kg <br /> Toluene 1.01 mg/kg <br /> Ethyl-benzene 0.953 mg/kg <br /> Total xylenes 5.450 mg/kg <br /> TPH-diesel 9,300 mg/kg <br /> Other or anic-based roducts (e.g,fuel oxygenates) not reported in analytical results <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br /> 1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. <br /> Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, <br /> nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. <br /> Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, <br /> dizziness,and loss of coordination.Certain components of gasoline(BTEX,etc.)are known <br /> or suspected carcinogens. <br /> The additional potential hazards include: Slip-trip-fall hazards, noise, heavy equipment (i.e., drill <br /> rig) vibration hazards,traffic hazards, etc. <br /> Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc. <br />
