' 12 October 1999 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 98-0497 <br /> Page 5 of 7 <br /> 4 2 FIELD EVIDENCE OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL <br /> Faint to moderate hydrocarbon odor was noted in duplicate soil samples collected from P-I at depths <br /> ' between 15 feet bsg and 65 feet bsg Petroleum hydrocarbon odor is noted on boring logs contained <br /> in Appendix A <br /> ' Organic vapor was detected at concentrations as high as 400 parts per million (ppm) using a PID in <br /> soil sample duplicates collected from P-1 Organic vapor field measurements are summarized on the <br /> boring logs contained to Appendix A <br /> ' 43 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> A total of seven soil samples were submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory (McCampbell Analytical <br /> Inc ) for analysis as noted above TPH-g was detected In soil samples collected from probe boring <br /> P-1 at concentrations ranging as high as 1,900 mg/kg, the laboratory reported the sample <br /> chromatogram to be representative of a strongly aged gasoline and that diesel range compounds were <br /> '• significant TPH-d was detected in soil samples collected from P-1 at concentrations ranging as high <br /> as 10,000 mg/kg, the laboratory reported the diesel range chromatograms as unmodified or weakly <br /> modified Further laboratory review of the gasoline and diesel range chromatograms Indicated the <br /> ' sample chromatograms to be more indicative of a diesel impact <br /> BTEX compounds were detected in soil samples collected from P-1 and were quantified at <br />' concentrations ranging as high as 8 3 mg/kg, benzene was detected In the P-1 sample at 65 feet bsg, <br /> and was quantified at a concentration of 0 047 mg/kg <br />' MTBE was detected In soil samples collected from P-1 utilizing EPA Method 8260 Modified at <br /> concentrations ranging as high as 0 055 mg/kg No other fuel oxygenated compounds were detected <br />' during the laboratory analysis of selected soil samples Analytical results of soil samples are <br /> summarized in Table 2 The laboratory report (McCampbell Analytical Inc Lab ID 18688 through <br /> 18702) and cham-of-custody are included in Appendix B <br /> The estimated extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil is depicted in cross sectional view <br /> A -A 'in Figure 4 <br /> 5.0 SUMMARY <br /> • The following is a summary based on the findings of this preliminary Investigation <br /> c , <br /> Adranced GeoEmsronmenta[,Inc <br />
