The well <br /> destructions were performed per San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD's)July 26, <br /> 2007 letter to Shell,which concurred that no further action is required at this site and that the monitoring wells <br /> should be properly destroyed. The scope of work described in this report follows CRA's September 13,2007 <br /> Well Destruction Work Plan. <br /> WELL DESTRUCTION ACTIVITIES <br /> Permits: Well destruction and encroachment permits were obtained from SJCEHD and the City of Ripon, <br /> respectively. Permits are included in Attachment A. <br /> Field Date(s): October 8,9, 10 and 12,2007. <br /> CRA Staff: Scott Lewis,Senior Staff Geologist. <br /> Destruction Method—Monitoring Wells: Nine wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4A, MW-4B, MW-5A, <br /> MW-513,MW-6A,and MW-6B),were destroyed by 1)removing the wellhead vault box;2)excavating an area <br /> measuring approximately 2 feet in diameter and approximately 3 feet below grade (fbg) around the casing; 3) <br /> filling the casing with neat cement from the bottom up;4)applying a pressure seal to the top of the well casing <br /> and pressurizing the well casing for 5 to 10 minutes; 5) cutting the casing off at approximately 2.5 fbg;and 6) <br /> lacing additional grout in the casing and allowing the grout to spill over the top of the casing and fill the hole <br /> - <br /> M'r..rr Jrjs'inches above the remaining casing. In offsite wells MW-6A and MW-613,the final hole was backfilled with <br /> dirt to match the existing planter.
