Main Street
Ripon, CA
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed our file and
"Groundwater Monitoring Report— Second Quarter 2004" dated August 9, 2004,
prepared by Cambria for the above referenced site.
Analysis for 1,2-DCA, EDB, DIPE, ETBE, TAME and TBA was conducted on the water
samples collected from the monitoring wells on April 8, 2004, in addition,to the analysis
for the previous contaminants of concern. None of the new analytes were found in the
April 8, 2004, water samples.
Soil contamination previously documented at the site appeared to be limited to the UST
system area. Contaminant levels of MTBE in the groundwater at the site have
decreased to below the maximum contaminant levels for public drinking water.
SHELL may be able to demonstrate that this site does not require further action
according to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB)Tri-
Regional Board Staff Recommendations document. Further investigation to estimate the
current mass of contamination remaining in the soil may be necessary. If necessary,
submit a work plan for this investigation. If SHELL can demonstrate that no further
action is required at this site with the data gathered to date, a report should be prepared
and submitted to EHD and the CVRWQCB for evaluation.
If you have any questions contact me at (209) 468-3449 or Vicki McCartney at (209)
468-3456.
Donna Heran, REHS; Director
Environmental Health Department
Margaret egorio, Supervising REHS
Unit IV
c: CVRWQCB—Jim Barton
Cambria —Joe Neely
