San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)has reviewed the analytical reports
submitted for the 2000 through 2003 quarterly groundwater monitoring events prepared by
Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc. (Cambria) for d3t above referenced site. Groundwater
samples have not been analyzed for 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA), ethylene dibromide(EDB),
di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),
tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA),methanol, and ethanol, since 20 October 2000.
EHD requested that groundwater samples collected on 20 January 2004 be analyzed for 1,2-DCA,
EDB,DIPE, ETBE,TAME,and TBA, in addition to the current analyte list of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-G),benzene, toluene,ethylbenzene,total xylenes(BTEX),and
methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE). Cambria requested that 1,2-DCA and EDB be omitted from
the analyte list, noting that these compounds have not been detected in any groundwater samples
collected at this site. EHD initially agreed to this request. However, after additional consideration,
EHD concludes that groundwater samples should be analyzed annually for 1,2-DCA, EDB,DIPE,
ETBE,TAME,TBA,methanol, and ethanol. If any of these compounds are detected, then the
detected compounds should be added to the quarterly groundwater analyte list.
