(Cambria) is
submitting this work plan addendum on behalf of Shell Oil Products Company(Shell) for a subsurface
investigation at the site referenced above. The scope of this phase of work includes soil and ground
water sampling using cone penetrometer testing (CPT), with the objectives of determining the three-
dimensional extent of hydrocarbons and the location and design of ground water monitoring wells.
Ground water monitoring wells will be installed during the next phase of field work to show whether or
not fuel oxygenates have migrated from the site toward municipal water supply wells. This workplan
also proposes to periodically extract ground water from the existing ground water monitoring well.
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
Cambria will install approximately nine CPT borings in the locations shown in Figure 1. Cambria.will
CAMBRiA also develop a program to extract ground water from existing ground water monitoring well MW-1 on
a periodic basis. The San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services (SJCPHS) will be
ENVIRONMENTAL notified at least 48.hours prior to field work. All work will be allowed to be witnessed by SJCPHS staff.
TECHNOLOGY,INC.
One purpose of this investigative portion of the work will be to determine the nature and extent of
1144 65TH STREET,
hydrocarbons in the assumed source are near the southeastern product dispenser. Because previous
SUITE 8 phases of work did not detect significant amounts of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg)
or benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, or xylenes (BTEX) outside of the source area, this phase of the
OAKLAND,
investigation will also focus on defining the nature and extent of fuel oxygenates in soil and ground
CA 94608 water in three dimensions. To that end, the goals of the investigation are (1) to obtain ground water

0)420-0700 samples for chemical analyses, (2) to obtain soil samples for physical analyses, and (3) to obtain soil
samples for chemical analyses.
FAx:(510)420-9170
