l
Mr. Ron Rowe CAMBRIA
July 10, 1998
CPT Boring Locations: The revised locations of the proposed borings are shown on the attached site map
entitled "Proposed Soil Boring Location Map" (Figure 2). These proposed locations were discussed with
SJCPHS prior to submittal of this addendum. Boring locations can be changed during the boring installation
field work if warranted. Cambria changed the location of most of the borings a relatively small amount so
that the boring spacing is approximately 40 ft. The borings along the south side of East Main Street were
removed based on discussions with SJCPHS indicating that ground water quality to the south west of the site
is adequately characterized at this time by existing ground water monitoring wells on the Chevron property.
Four boring locations were added 150 ft west of the subject site on the 333 East Main Street property to
further assess ground water quality in the assumed ground water flow direction.
Tank Tightness Testing: A specialized service station maintenance subcontractor employed directly by
Equilon will perform the tank tightness testing and visually inspect all UST sumps, dispenser connections,
and other appurtenances for leaks. The subcontractor will contact the SJCPHS to schedule and observe the
work.
Investigation of Offsite Wells: Cambria will determine the depth to water and the total depth of the well
located on 333 East Main Street. A down-hole video camera will be used to determine the screened interval
and condition of the well. Cambria will obtain a grab ground water sample from the well. Cambria will also
obtain a water sample from the CalTrans well when an access agreement has been obtained. These ground
water samples will be analyzed in the same manner as the rest of the ground water samples for the site. As
stated above,Cambria is also investigating construction details for the CalTrans well. Cambria does not have
a firm schedule for these activities at this time, but the results of the investigation will be included in the SWI
report.
Spill History and Oxygenate Use: Cambria will continue to pursue the history of oxygenate use and the
history of spills at the site. The results of this research will be included in the SWI report.
Cambria is planning to begin the field work for the CPT boring insallations on the morning of Tuesday,
July 14, 1998.
4
