 AMBRIA
July 25,2006
Ms.Vicki McCartney Yom+ a e*
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department vY%
304 East Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Re: Fate and Transport Modeling Report
Shell-branded(Independent)Service Station
341 East Main Street
Ripon,California
SAP Code 135816
Incident No.98995874
SJCEHD Site Code 506186
Dear Ms. McCartney:
Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc. (Cambria) is submitting this report on behalf of
Equilon Enterprises LLC dba Shell Oil Products US (Shell) for the property located at 341 East
Main Street, Ripon, California. This report was prepared pursuant to San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department's September 26, 2005 letter to Shell. This letter provided
comments on the June 9, 2005 Case Closure Summary and specifically requested Shell to verify
that previous methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) detections in soil beneath the site are not
currently acting as a secondary source to impact groundwater. To address this issue, Shell
performed fate and transport modeling, and reviewed historical remediation and groundwater
analytical data to determine if previous MTBE soil detections continue to pose a threat to
groundwater quality.
The modeling results and the data gathered during soil vapor extraction (SVE) testing,
groundwater extraction (GWE) operations, and groundwater monitoring events demonstrate that
the remaining MTBE mass in unsaturated soils is negligible and future MTBE impacts to
groundwater are unlikely. The site background and results supporting this conclusion are
discussed in detail below.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The subject property is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of East Main Street
Cambria
and rhP Riahwav 99 on/off ramp in Ripon. California (Figure 1). The site is an operating Shell-
Technology,Inc. branded (independent) service station with an underground storage tank (UST) complex, two
*Perkins Street dispenser islands,a car wash,and a station building(Figure 2).
..a,CA 95476
Tel(707)935-4850
Fax(707)935-6649
