r F <br /> �dd Mr Ron Rowe <br /> C A 1n B R 9 A October 11, 2000 <br /> Groundwater Remediatton The GWE system, which extracts groundwater from well EW-1 at <br /> approximately 5 gallons per minute, was started on March 10, 2000 The GWE system operation <br /> through August 10, 2000 is summarized in the following table <br /> Mass Removal by Groundwater Extraction <br /> Constituent Total Removed <br /> Total Hydrocarbons 0 011 lbs <br /> MtBE 17 5 lbs <br /> Water 545,600 gallons <br /> Initially, the GWE system was operated on a batch basis, where a limited volume of water was <br /> extracted, stored above ground, and then hauled offsite for disposal Continuous discharge to the <br /> sanitary sewer was started on May 19, 2000 Cambria performed a carbon changeout on <br /> June 19, 2000 and restarted the system on June 20, 2000 after the carbon had been soaked <br /> overnight <br /> Cambria shut the system down on July 12, 2000 when MTBE was detected in the GWE system <br /> effluent The carbon filter media in two of the three filter vessels was removed and replaced, and <br /> the PVC hoses between the carbons were replaced The GWE system was restarted on a batch <br /> basis, resampled, and shut down on July 18, 2000 and August 10, 2000 pending approval from <br /> the City of Ripon to operate on a continuous basis The GWE system was restarted on a <br /> continuous basis on September 19,2000 <br /> ANTICIPATED FOURTH QUARTER 2000 ACTIVITIES <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Blaine will gauge and sample all wells and tabulate the data All <br /> samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline by EPA Method 8015, <br /> benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes, and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA <br /> Method 8020, the volatile organic compounds 1, 2-dibromomethane and 1, 2-dichloroethane by <br /> EPA Method 8010, the volatile organic oxygenated compounds ethanol, tert-butyl ether, MTBE, <br /> di-isopropyl ether, ethyl tert-butyl ether, and tert-amyl methyl ether by EPA Method 8260, and <br /> the industrial solvent methanol by EPA Method 8015 Cambna will prepare a monitonng report <br /> Groundwater Remediation Cambria will continue operating the GWE and treatment system <br /> 2 <br />
