++ JUL-12-2000 16:26 CRMERIR 510 420 9170 P.01i35
CAM aRIA
To: Mr. Dale Ramey
City of Ripon TRANSMITTAL
fax: (209)$99.2866
Re: Ground Water Extraction System
Status and Analytical Results
Shell-branded Service Station
341 East Main
Ripon, California
Date: Wednesday, July 12, 2000
Mr. Ramey -
Cambria performed a carbon changeout at the Shell-branded service station at 341 East Main in Ripon,
California on June 19, 2000, and restarted the system on .lune 20, 2000, after the carbon been soaked
overnight, The laboratory analysis detected MTBE in the effluent samples collected on June 20, 2000,
June 28,2000, and July 7, 2004. It is my opinion that the best explanation for these detections is that some
contamination of the effluent samples was introduced by the sample ports, Or hoses between Carbon vessels
and the sewer, after the carbon changeout_ Cambria will shut the system down today,July 12,2000.
1 have attached a summary table and analytical results from operation and sampling of the ground water
extraction system_
We are developing a plan to restart the system that will include procedures for the system startup, sampling,
and analyses, We will restart the system only after your approval of our plan_
Please call me at(510)420-3316 if you have any questions.
Owen Ratchye
CC.
