(Cambria)
is submitting this Soil Vapor Extration Feasibility Test Report. The purpose of the soil vapor
extraction (SVE) test was to determine if significant amounts of hydrocarbons are sorbed to soils
above the groundwater table in the vicinity of the southeastern product island and underground
• storage tank (UST) complex, and to determine the vapor flow characteristics of subsurface soils.
SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION FEASIBILITY TEST
On May 22, 2000, Cambria performed a SVE feasibility field test on wells EW-1, MW-413, and
MWA (See Figure 1). Cambria notified the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District of
the proposed test, and received a letter dated March 30, 2001 stating that the proposed test was
exempt from district peritting requirements (The letter is attached in Appendix A). The
procedures, equipment, and results for the SVE tests are described below.
SVE Test Procedures: Cambria performed SVE tests on wells EW-1, MW413, and MW-1.
During the SVE tests, Cambria measured vapor extraction flow rates, extracted vapor
hydrocarbon concentrations, vacuum applied to the extraction wellhead, as, well as vacuum
influence and drawdown in surrounding wells. A 2-inch vacuum hose was connected to each of
Oakland. CA the wells during the SVE tests. During the SVE test on well EW-1, the well head was modified
San Raman, CA
Son o m a, CA to enable the groundwater extration pump in well EW-1 to continue pumping during the SVE
testing. Groundwater was extracted from EW-1 at an approximate flowrate of 5 gallons per
Cambria minute throughout all of the SVE tests.
environmernai
•Technology,Inc. SVE Test Equipment: Soil vapor was extracted by a trailer-mounted internal combustion engine
1144 65th Street (ICE) model V3 unit manufactured by Remediation Service, Int'l. Extracted soil vapor was
Suite B treated by the ICE.
Oakland,CA 94608
Tel(510)420-0700
Fax(510)420-9170
