Meeting Minutes :/30/00 <br /> Page 2 of 7 <br /> because tine meeting ran longer than e\pected The following minutes summarize the <br /> .' information reviewed Actions that were requested or proposed are summarized at the <br /> bottom of each agenda item Copies of all meeting handouts and/or slides are also <br /> attached <br /> 1 Introduction <br /> After everyone introduced themselves, Marcus Pierce briefly explained the folloNN ing <br /> meeting objectives <br /> • Review the status of remedial activities conducted by Nestle USA and Shell <br /> • Discuss future remedial actions <br /> • Start coordinating future remedial actions by Nestle/Shell with the City of <br /> Ripon groundwater withdrawals Coordination of these activities is needed to <br /> optimize remediation of the TCE and MTBE plumes and protect the City's <br /> groundwater supplies from further impacts <br /> �y 2 Nestle Soil Cleanup Actions <br /> Jean Moran presented a summary of the extent of TCE contamination in the vadose zone <br /> and the cleanup actions performed This item is summarized below and in the attached <br /> slides <br /> • Investigation of the vadose zone began in 1987 and four soil vapor surveys were <br /> conducted between 1987 and 1995 to identify source areas and delineate the <br /> extent of impacted soils <br /> • TCE impacted soils were identified near the former decaffeination building, the <br /> former water treatment building, and well cluster M-8 <br /> • A total of 12 soil vapor extraction wells were installed in three phases since <br /> 1988 and 170 lbs of TCE have been removed from the vadose zone <br /> • Cleanup of the vadose zone is nearing completion as influent TCE <br /> concentrations have become asymptotic in all SVE circuits Confirmation <br /> sampling and preparation of the Closure Report are scheduled for this year <br />
