Meeting Minutes 3130100
. 2K1111104+ C2HCL3 -- 2CO2 + 2Mn02 + 2K+ + 3CL-+ H-
Potassium permanganate has lowered TCE concentrations belo'A reporting
limits in areas of the A-aquifer that it has reached during the pilot test
Although thele is sonic evidence that TCE concentrations may rebound once the
potassium permanganate is removed, this remedial alternative shows a lot of
promise for remediating TCE in the source area The results of the pilot test are
scheduled to be reported in mid-April 2000 per the Waste Discharge
Requirements
4 Nestle Groundwater Model
George Losonsky (IT Group) presented an overview of Nestle ground%ater modeling
efforts This presentation facilitated general discussion of modeling assumptions and
potential data gaps were identified This item is summarized below and in the attached
slides
a Visual Modflow was used to model the local ground water flo« system and the
model boundaries were placed several miles outside the area of concern The
model includes 9 layers with varying hydraulic conductivities
Hydraulic conductivities were determined from pump tests north of the
Stanislaus River Hydraulic conductivities in other areas were denved
empirically and based on regional hydrogeological research.
• Future groundwater consumption by the City of Ripon was extrapolated from
1994 to 1998 monthly production data to the Year 2025 The growth rate for
the City of Ripon was based on regional data(growth rate for the city of
Sacramento) instead of the Ripon General Plan However, Dale Ramey
concurred with the projected population growth presented by George Losonsky
Potential groundwater withdrawals that are not included or may not be correctly
accourited for in the model include the Fox River Paper wells, Caltrans well
(Parallel Avenue/East Main Street), agricultural wells, Jack Tone Golf Course,
and Spring Creek Golf and Country Club A 500 gpm extraction rate was
assumed for the Fox River Paper wells However, Dale Ramz-y stated that he is
unsure whether these wells are still being used because Fox River Paper is using
approximately 500 gpm of City water
d The report detailing modeling efforts will be issued upon completion
.4.._.._. ra _. !-',..-...-../T.,.-.», , Il -LO-11 )7-- Aivnr Pn"ZiV ion Adrn1df/7IC (rPIIrRP/TPnP1
lictio;L 14GN11 VGW Scr,i c-urr 'r .r••--.• + v.., — - - + . - -- _.__ Q_ _
will check into the potentially significant withdrawals that were not modeled, and revise
• the model accordingly George/Jean will obtain a copy of the Ripon General Plan and
revise assumptions on future withdrawals by the City of Ripon
