Soil samples collected from 10 feet below ground surface(bgs)from each tank revealed
150 parts per million(ppm) diesel, 0.24 ppm benzene, 1.9 ppm toluene, 0.88 ppm ethyl benzene, and
4.6 ppm xylenes. In November 1994, the tank pit area was excavated to approximately 14 feet bgs.
Samples showed in parts per million:
Sample# TPHg TPHd Benzene Toluene Ethyl Xylenes
Depth benzene
BS-1/14 ND ND 0.005 0.012 0.005 0.059
EW/12.5 ND ND ND ND ND ND
SW/12 1.4 ND ND 0.007 ND 0.051
NW/10.5 6.6 27 ND 0.037 0.045 0.48
WW/10 ND ND ND ND ND ND
SP-1-2/NA 20 24 0.014 0.062 0.093 0.50
DLR 1.0 10 0.005 10.005 J0.005 10.005
• DLR is the reporting limit.ND is non4etwt
In June 1985, soil borings were installed around the former tank pit and sampling showed 19 ppm TPHd
and 23 ppm TPHg at 10 feet in soil boring 2. All other contamination was non-detect. In August 1995,
the San Joaquin Public Health Services/Environmental Health Department warranted no further action at
the site.
The Regional Board has very limited information on this site. However, 4.3 lbs. of total petroleum
hydrocarbons remain in the soil, between 10 and 15 feet, and contamination was never detected in ground
water.
HB
