gi Apfil 28, 1995 Fid, <br /> 95-1104802 80 L j <br /> Hinaman Trust AFS ��F 119,9S <br /> Subject REPORT - e <br /> Attention <br /> Mr David Chin ehm <br /> ein Subsurface Investigation <br /> 1 2409 East Main Street CFs��Ty <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Page 2 <br /> ■ Preparation of this summary letter report presenting the results of this <br /> investigation <br /> Method of Invests ation <br /> Twelve exploratory borings were drilled at the approximate locations indicated on <br /> Drawing 2 (attached) The soil boring locations were selected by MARK to evaluate areas of <br /> potential concern identified during the Phase I investigation site reconnaissance and were based <br /> on a ground and piping plan of the former service station at the site <br /> The areas of concern investigated during this investigation included the following areas <br /> ■ The former hydraulic automobile lift, <br /> r The former underground gasoline storage tanks (USTs), <br /> ■ The former pump islands and transfer pipelines, and <br /> ■ The existing waste oil tank, sump, and transfer line <br /> ' Drilling and Soil Sampling <br /> Bay Area Exploration, Inc performed the drilling of the exploratory soil borings on <br /> March 31, 1995, using a CME 55 HT drill rig equipped with 7-inch outside-diameter (O D ) <br /> hollow stem auger Soil samples were collected at 2 to 3 foot depth intervals Soil samples were <br /> collected using a 2 5-inch O D drive sampler containing two-inch diameter stainless steel sample <br /> liners The augers and sampling equipment were steam cleaned between boreholes to reduce <br /> cross-contamination <br /> The drilling and soil sampling were performed under the observation of a MARK <br /> representative Soils encountered in the subsurface were logged by MARK using the Unified <br /> Soil Classification system Visual, olfactory, and photoionization detector (PID) screening was <br /> performed on soil samples and drill cuttings <br /> The soil borings were backfilled using a portland cement and bentonite (less than 5%) <br /> grout The upper one foot of the boreholes was capped with concrete Mr Ron Rowe, <br /> inspector with SJCHA, visited the site during drilling operations and authorized the grouting of <br /> 4 <br /> F <br />
