i <br /> M + <br /> V <br /> J <br /> 2 0 SITE DESCRIPTION AND RECONNAISSANCE <br /> 1 <br /> A MARK representative visited the subject site on February 10, 1994 MARK <br /> + observed the various facilities and operations conducted at the site and also noted the land- <br /> use in the vicinity of the site Ms Kathryn Mecca, real estate agent of Mecca Properties <br /> assisted the MARK representative during the site reconnaissance and was briefly interviewed <br /> 21 Site Description and Uses <br /> The site is located at 2409 Main Street, Stockton, California as shown in Drawing 1 <br /> Located on the site is a paved vacant lot (See Photo 1) The site is bordered on the north <br /> by Marsh Street and residential properties, to the south by Main Street, vacant commercial <br /> buildings, and a former All Star gasoline station, to the west by "F" Street, commercial and <br /> g <br /> residential properties, and to the east by a paved parking lot, Stockton Food Center Super <br /> Market, and commerical properties A site plan illustrating the site and adjacent properties <br /> i <br /> is shown in Drawing 2 <br /> Former Gas Station - Located on the subject site is the former foundation of a service <br /> station (See Photo 2) A letter correspondance dated July 7, 1992 to Mr Sherman Hinaman <br /> � from Mr W T Scudder of Chevron USA Products Company (Chevron), states that <br /> according to their records, "the underground tanks were removed but the piping from where <br /> the tanks used to be to the pump islands were left" (See Appendix C) In addition, attached <br /> to the letter was a copy of the engineer's abandonment checklist which noted that the service <br /> station was abandoned by January 31, 1976 The checklist noted pumps-dispensers, air <br /> compressor, hoists, lub oil-solvent tanks, building canopies, light fixtures and poles, <br /> foundations, underground tanks, concrete slab at grade, and raised cone, curbs, and slabs <br /> PHASEI2 2-1 95-1104801 <br />
