Although petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the stockpile samples from that soil <br /> (SP-1 through SP-4),we agreed that the concentrations of hydrocarbons in the stockpiled soil do not pose <br /> a significant threat to the ground water at the site. If additional soil is needed to backfill the western <br /> excavation up to grade,Shell will use the soil removed from the new UST excavation at the cast edge of the <br /> site. Shell will use this soil since no hydrocarbons were observed during the new UST excavation and since <br /> no petroleum hydrocarbons or lead were detected in the two soil samples collected from the new UST area <br /> (S-1,T and S-1, 15').
