• Mr Ronald Rowe C AA��.�MB in�T A <br /> ti <br /> October 17, 1997 <br /> Subsurface Investigatron• An Investigation Work Plan dated July 11, 1997 was submitted for your review <br />• The work plan was conditionally approved by the county on September 16, 1997 Cambria is completing <br /> permit applications and preparing for field activities <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Shell contracted Ehte IV Contractors,Inc of Stockton,California(Elite M to remove and replace the three <br /> hoists at the site Cambria's scope of work for this investigation is described below <br /> Site Health and Safety Man- Cambria prepared a comprehensive site safety pian to protect site workers <br /> during sampling The plan was kept on site during our field activities <br /> Permits. Permitting and regulatory correspondence for this project was handled by Elite IV with assistance <br /> from Cambria, as necessary <br /> Soil Sampling: Cambria sampled the soil from beneath the three hoist excavations (Figure 1) The soil <br /> samples were collected in steam cleaned stainless steel or brass tubes, sealed with plastic caps over teflon <br /> liners,and placed in a cooled container for transportation Cambia's standard field procedures are presented <br /> in Attachment A <br /> To expedite the horst replacement,Elite IV collected soil from the bottom of the muddle hoist excavation on <br /> September 8, 1997 for sampling purposes On September 9, 1997,Mr Brian Busch of Cambria sampled the <br /> soil from the rmddle hoist excavation that Elite IV collected and the soil beneath the southern hoist Elate IV <br /> dad not note any signs of leakage during the removal of either hoist <br /> On September 15, 1997,Mr Josh Bergstrom of Cambria collected soil samples from beneath the northern <br /> hoist and from stockpiled soil Elite IV dad not note any signs of leakage during hoist removal <br /> Chemical Analysis- Soil samples were analyzed by Sequoia Analytical of Redwood City, California <br /> (Sequoia) for total petroleum hydrocarbons as hydraulic oil (TPBho)by modified EPA Method 8015, and <br /> BTEX by EPA Method 8020 Stockpile samples were also analyzed for total lead by EPA Method 6010 <br /> The laboratory analytic report is presented in Attachment B <br /> 2 <br />
