The TRC is comprised of PHS-EHD staff, <br /> Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board staff, and three other <br /> members representing the community. The following comments are the <br /> conclusions of the TRC with respect to the request for closure at this site. <br /> An additional monitoring well, located south west of the former tank pit area at <br /> approximately the same distance away as monitoring well MW#1, should be <br /> installed to confirm the inferred extent of groundwater impact at the site. <br /> Selected soil samples from this boring should be collected and analyzed for TPH <br /> as gasoline, TPH as diesel, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene, and for <br /> site specific modeling parameters, such as bulk density, effective porosity, and <br /> organic carbon content. A soil sample of sufficient diesel impact should also <br /> undergo a test for leaching potential, such as the Waste Extraction Test or the <br /> Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure. Please use deionized water as the <br /> extractant for this test. Additionally, PHS-EHD staff should be consulted prior to <br /> installing the well in the boring as the appropriate placement of the screen <br /> interval of this well is imperative to an ultimate closure decision. <br /> Also, the presence of TPH as gasoline in groundwater must be addressed with <br /> additional data. Please continue to analyze groundwater samples for gasoline <br /> range hydrocarbons as well as diesel. It was also recommended that past <br /> chromatograms be utilized to clarify the carbon range of hydrocarbons found in <br /> the groundwater. Only monitoring well MW#1 and the proposed additional <br /> monitoring well need to be sampled for these verification data. <br /> A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services <br />
