Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Ref : Marcils Diesel Service - 2969 Loomis Road, Stockton
Site Code 2015
The attached report covers work done at the above site by Lush
Geosciences on May 30, 1996 under a WJH approved workplan dated
September 14, 1995 . That workplan proposed the installation of
411 vent wells to 65-70 ' bgl to evaluate minor soil contamination
encountered during placement of three (3) monitoring wells on the
property in April, 1992 . With the approval of the San Joaquin
County EHD, the scope of work was changed to placing one (1) soil
boring through the site occupied by the former UST' s . The field
work was done under the supervision of Bill Welter of Lush
Geosciences .
The results of the laboratory analyses of the soil samples taken
during field operations is summarized on Table 2, (page 5 of the
report . ) Very high levels of TPH as diesel were measured in cores
taken from 21, to 71' bgl . TPH as gasoline was detected in most
samples, with the highest levels from the sample at 56 ' bgl .
Benzene & toluene were ND in all samples; ethylbenzene was found
in 4 samples, and xylene in 9 .
It is interesting to note that soil samples taken during the
placement of monitoring well #1 did not reveal any TPHg, (Table
1, page 2, ) and none has ever been detected in groundwater
samples from the 3 wells - (Table 1, page 3 . ) TPH as diesel was
present in soil samples from 36 , to 77, bgl in MW-1, and was
detected in water samples taken 9/92, 6/93, 1/94, & 11/94; the
maximum amount measured was 3 .0 mg/L during the 6/93 sampling
event .
Benzene was not detected in any of the soil samples analyzed from
the three monitoring wells, but was measured at very low concen-
trations in water samples from MW-1 in 6/93, 9/93, & 1/94 .
Toluene was detected in 3 soil samples from MW-1, but not in the
water. Ethylbenzene was detected in 2 soil samples from MW-1,
but never in the water.. Xylene was detected in 3 soil samples
from MW-1, and during the 6/93 groundwater sampling.
The presence of significant concentrations of TPHg in the soil
1
