ell
GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION REPORT
ADDITIONAL WORK .RECOMMENDATIONS
EHD SITE CODE # 2015
MARCI DIESEL
2969 Loomis Road
Stockton, CA
PREVIOUS WORK & REPORTS
,
All previous work was discussed in the '
reports by Wm. J.
Hunter & Associates , - (3 ) "Proposed Work Plan-Installation of-
Monitor Wells, Soil and Groundwater Sampling For:
Groundwater Investigation Report" , dated 2/7/1992, and
(2) "Groundwater Investigation Report" , Marci. Diesel , Site
Code # 2035, dated May, 1992 . These reports are not
appended; however, they both have been submitted to the EHD
and will be resubmitted if requested.,, ,
DISCUSSION OF ,
CURRENT STATUS OF WORK OPERATIONS
On August 24, 1992, PHS, EHD responded to WJH' s report. # 2
with the attached letter (Attachment '# 1) , in which
additional work was requested for soilplume delineation and
for the completion of an additional monitor well located in
a down-gradient direction.
WJH does not agree with the need for either additional soil
plume delineation or for an additional monitor well for the
following: reasons :
(1) The entire soil profile to the extent of the monitor
wells bored was almost entirely clay, with perhaps 10
percent maximum -sand-. -Water wells i,n-,the area are generally
completed below 150 feet'l, vss owing to. this dearth of
productive interval .
(The sand content was difficult to exactly quantify
owing to almost zero sand recovery. The gross amount of
sand is inferred from small amounts seen in core
recovery and from Department of Water Resources,
Bulletin No. 46, San Joaquin County Ground Water
Investigation, July, 1967) .
(?) There` has been no evidence that the groundwater is
contaminated; all water samples have had zero contaminants .
The fact that the groundwater gradient was not found to
conform to the regional gradient indicates to the reviewers
i
2
