Public Health Service
Environmental Health Division
445 No. San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95242
Ref: 2969 Loomis Road; Site Code 2015
Attn: Linda Turkette, EHS
Dear Miss Turkette;
I am enclosing the groundwater investigation report covering work
done at the above site for our client, Marci 's Diesel Service.
As discussed in the report, the hydraulic gradient as measured
was indicated to be to the west, whereas all recent County Flood
Control District maps show an easterly direction. Rased on the
limited data obtained during our work, monitoring wells #2 & 3
are not currently in a down gradient position. However, it has
been shown in other areas of the County that the direction of
flow does not always remain static, but can change quite
dramatically within relatively short periods of time.
As demonstrated by the water level measurement data, the gradient
is very flat at this location. However, the possibility exists
that due to seasonal changes in withdrawals & recharge, the
direction of flow can vary significantly with time. Without more
data, it cannot be assumed that the presently measured gradient
will remain stable.
I apologize for not making sure that your office was contacted
when water level measurements & sampling occurred. We have used
Del-Tech on several projects, and have found his work to be both
accurate and thorough. His field logs are included in the report
as Attachment 3.
The drums containing the spoil from monitoring well #1 are being
stored on Marci Diesel property at 2973 Loomis Road; they have
been well-marked & identified. Remediation proposals are being
solicited, but no decision for treatment of the spoil has yet
been made. The drums containing drill spoils from monitoring
wells #2 & 3 are not contaminated, but have not yet been disposed
of.
