(GZA), on your behalf for the above-referenced <br /> site. The EHD had directed the submittal of a well destruction work plan by letter dated 06 <br /> March 2013. <br /> In the work plan, GZA proposes to destroy:MW-1, MW-4 through MW-7, IWA, IW-101, EW-1 <br /> through EW-3, EW-101 throughEW-103, A5-.1,,, EW-4 and'EW-5 by: <br /> • Drilling out and removing all the contents of the well; then <br /> • Sealing the cleared borehole with neat cement by grouting from the bottom upward to <br /> a depth of three to five feet below-surface grade (bsg). <br /> GZA proposes to destroy the remaining wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-8, MWA04 through MWA06 <br /> and EW-6 by: <br /> • Grouting the wells in place using a tremie pipe to pump neat cement grout (containing <br /> less than four percent bentonite) to the bottom of the wells under pressure of 25 <br /> pounds per square inch (psi); then <br /> • Drilling out the top three feet of the well using an auger that is at least one foot larger <br /> in diameter than the.auger originally used to install the well; then <br /> • Removing soil around the cut-off casing to a depth of an additional six inches below <br /> the top of the cut-off casing; then <br /> e f <br /> • Filling the top of the cut-off casing with grout before allowing the grout to spill out of the <br /> top of the well casing to form a mushroom cap with at least six inches of grout below <br /> and above the cut-off casing. <br /> i <br />
