J. Hunter & Associates, installed four
L groundwater monitoring wells (MW=1 through MW-4) in an effort to detennine if diesel
fuel had impacted groundwater. Diesel contamination was subsequently detected in
groundwater at the site. .;
0
In August 200,1 Geological Technics Inc..(GTI) installed three additional monitoring wells
rat the site. Two wells, MW-5 and MW-6, were completed as shallow wells screened across
Lt the water table at approximately 60 feet below grade. One well, MW-105, was completed
with a discretelyscreened interval at approximately 30 feet below the water table. The new
pP Y
and existing wells were monitored for four consecutive quarters and laboratory analysis of
groundwater samples indicates the presence of diesel in the deep well.
In . their letter of September 6, 2001, the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services/Enviromnental Health Division (SJC PHS/EHD) directed the submittal of a work
plan to install additional deep-screened monitoring wells. In our October 25, 2001
"Additional Site Characterization - Soil Boring and Monitoring Well Installation" work r
plan, GTI proposed installing two additional deep-screened wells, MW-104 and MW-106,
{ located adjacent to the north corner of the site building and adjacent to well MW-6.. The
.+ spatial orientation of the new wells will allow the deeper aquifer gradient to be detennined
r and the site conceptual model to be refined.
