with no consistent direction. There does appear to be slightly
more gradients to the southeast, but we do not believe that data
to be statistically significant.
2. All three wells have been in downgradient positions at
various times during the past two+ years.
3. Levels of contamination measured beneath the property have
decreased steadily since monitoring began; the last two samplings
in May & September of this year showed all substances to be below
detection levels in all three wells.
4. The average change in water table levels in 1994 has been
2.44` ; the average depth to date in 1994 is 70 . 37' . The maximum
average change since monitoring began in April, 1992, is 4. 62` .
Although water levels have not been static, the levels of BTEX &
TPH--D have steadily dropped since testing began. This indicates
rather conclusively that any contamination remaining in the soil
has been reduced to irreducible concentrations.
5. It appears that natural bioremediation has been instrumental
in reducing the levels of contamination below detection limits.
x
RECOMMENDATION:
Based upon a thorough analysis of all of the data, it appears
that soil and groundwater contamination at this site has been
reduced to levels which are below detection limits and therefore
do not pose a hazard. We believe that further sampling and
testing is unnecessary and therefore recommend that the three
wells WiDiesel
rly destroyed, and the site closed.
W
Wm.
