(CCI)and has the following comments.
The Report documents a routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling event that was
conducted at this site on July 18, 2005. Groundwater samples for analysis were collected from
nine of the sites 13 monitoring wells. Analytical results were consistent with recent trends,
reporting detection of only one contaminant, specifically 0.8 micrograms per liter methyl tertiary
butyl ether(MtBE) in MW-6. The Report recommends the site be considered for case closure.
The site underwent groundwater remediation by ozone infusion from August 2, 2002 until
May 3, 2005. The reported groundwater monitoring event was the first to be conducted following
shutdown of the remediation system. SJC/EHD will review the site for case closure after four post-
remediation groundwater monitoring events have been completed.
Analytical results from site investigations documented petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in
vadose zone soil samples. The site has not undergone soil remediation, though fluctuations in the
groundwater elevation would cause contaminant mass to continue to dissolve from soil to
groundwater. Please have your consultant prepare a calculation and evaluation of remaining
contaminant mass in soil to determine if confirmation soil borings will be necessary.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209)468-0337
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio, Supervising RENS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: James Barton, CVRWQCB
Gary Mulkey, CCI
