•z _ ti <br /> ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION TO DEFINE THE EXTENT OF <br /> GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION <br /> AT <br /> QUIK STOP MARKET No. 121 <br /> 1196 WEST LOUISE AVENUE, MANTECA, CALIFORNIA <br /> Introduction <br /> In response to the April 23, 2001 letter from San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division, Compliance & Closure, Inc (CCI) conducted an additional <br /> investigation to define the extent of groundwater contamination at Quik Stop Market No 121, located <br /> at 1196 West Louise Avenue, Manteca, San Joaquin County, California(Figure 1) The most recent <br /> field work was performed in accordance with CCI's May 18, 2001 Work Plan to Define the Extent <br /> of Groundwater Contamination The work included drilling and installing two additional deep <br /> groundwater monitoring wells to 75 feet One well was placed on the northwest corner of the site <br /> and the other deep well was installed on the southwest side of the site <br /> CCI also proposed to install two additional off-site, shallow, groundwater monitoring wells One <br /> well was placed on the northeast corner of the property located at 1190 West Louise Avenue, <br /> adjacent to the Quik Stop site The other shallow well is to be placed on the northwest corner of the <br /> intersection of West Louise Avenue and Union Avenue Due to the heavy traffic flow through the <br /> intersection and numerous utility Imes along the sides of the streets, CCI proposes to install this well <br /> in the side walk area However, at this time, CCI is waiting on the approval of an encroachment <br /> permit from the City of Manteca to install the well Once the permit is received from the City, the <br /> well will be installed <br /> CCI also conducted a 24-hour pump test on recovery well RW-1 The test was run on July 26, 2001 <br /> A discussion of the results of that test are discussed in this report In addition, dual-phase vapor <br /> extraction activities continue at the site using a Mobil Treatment System (MTS), and, to date, five <br /> extraction events have been conducted at the site <br /> Field Investigation <br /> CCI conducted the field work for this investigation on July 26, August 1, 9, and 10, 2001 CCI <br /> retained Gregg Drilling and Testing, Inc (Gregg) of Martinez, California to install the three new <br /> groundwater wells Prior to beginning the field work, groundwater monitoring well permits were <br /> obtained from San Joaquin County, Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division All <br /> the proposed boring locations were cleared for underground utilities by notifying Underground <br />
