MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> AT <br /> QUIK STOP MARKET NO. 121 <br /> 1196 WEST LOUISE AVENUE, MANTECA, CALIFORNIA <br /> Introduction <br /> Compliance & Closure, Inc (CCI) installed additional groundwater monitoring wells at and near- <br /> by the Quik Stop Market No 121, Iocated at 1196 West Louise Avenue in the City of Manteca, <br /> San Joaquin County, California during the months of November and December 2000 (Figure 1) <br /> The additional monitoring wells were installed at the request of the San Joaquin County, Public <br /> Health Services, Environmental Health Department (County) and followed CCI's Work Plan for <br /> addtional Monitoring Well Installation, dated September 18, 2000 <br /> From November 29 through December 29, 2000, CCI installed a total of four new groundwater <br /> monitoring wells and one recovery well This included one well located on the adjacent property, <br /> located at 1190 W Louise Avenue, and four additional wells installed on the Quik Stop Market <br /> site to monitor groundwater conditions at several different depth intervals (Figure 2) CCI is also <br /> currently attempting to obtain off-site permission to install two more wells south of the Quik <br /> Stop Market site, in the parking lot of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 1050 <br /> Union Avenue Once an access agreement is completed, CCI will install these two wells, which <br /> will complete the well installation scope of work specified in COI's September 18, 2000 Work <br /> Plan <br /> Background Information <br /> In March 1998, Quik Stop Markets replaced three underground storage tanks and associated <br /> piping at the subject site At the time of the tank removal, it appeared petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> had impacted the native sand at the capillary fringe of the water table During the tank removal, <br /> groundwater was encountered at approximately 15 feet below the ground surface and had been <br /> . impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons <br />
