In 1989 the precision test for tank #1 failed and the tank removed on 1/29/90. The tank closure was issued on 8/24/90. On 6/15/93, tanks #2 and #3, were removed and soil contamination evidenced. An excavation of the contaminated soil followed and the residual soil contamination was investigated. 1,600 cubic yards of soil was removed and 7,500 gallons of groundwater pumped from the pit. Three monitoring wells were installed and groundwater contamination was not confirmed in samples collected from the monitoring wells. An on site facility well was installed in 1971 and has a total depth of 235 with a screened interval between 84 - 92' and 132 - 204'. The residual soil contamination was defined, evaluated and determined not to pose a significant threat to groundwater. Site Closure was recommended.
