q1t1itiedqehoopTwAfefVanfeea
Post Office Box 32 Manteca, California 95336 Telephone (209) 825-3200
November 30, 1993
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Public Health Services
Ms. Mary Meays, Senior REHS
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Mary:
Please consider this as our official request for an extension of the
December 15, 1993, deadline for filing a work plan for the continued treatment
of contaminated soil stockpiled at this location. Margaret Lagorio of your
office has furnished us with a listing of possible consulting firms, but
additional time will be required to obtain quotations as required for the
Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund.
Be assured the contaminated soil continues to be properly covered and
stockpiled away from view by the general. public. The piles have been staked
off, measured, diagramed and photographed. The- sprinkler system remains in
place for dust control, if needed. - Our on site drinking water well was
sampled and analyzed October 29, 1993. The results, dated November 3, 1993,
were "Non-Detect" for all elements sampled.
The tank removal project, sampling, excavation of contaminated soil and
groundwater, the purchase of backfill, asphalting back to grade, etc. has
impacted the District ' s 1993-94 budget in excess of $90, 000, to date. Our
concern is that we be allowed the time necessary to budget additional expenses
so as not to impact other projects mandatory to the integrity of our eighteen
other school buildings and grounds. Please consider our petition to extend
the work plan deadline as vital to the well being .of the District as a whole.
If we can be of any additional assistance, please feel free to contact
this office at 825-3221. We hope to receive yourconfirmation of extension in
writing prior to December 15, 1993.
Sincerely,
MANTECA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRI
PEGGY HALL
Coordinator, Business Services
PM:bmc
cc: J.
