SI 1 q <br /> SMTH <br /> f_Th <br /> ENVIRONMENTALTECHNp10GIES CORPORATION r .-- y „ <br /> February 12, 1996 <br /> 94-337 <br /> Ms Mary Meays <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P 0 Box 388 <br /> Stockton , California 95201-0388 <br /> Subject Fourth Quarter, 1995 Status Report, Manteca Unified School District, 2901 <br /> East Louise Avenue, Lathrop, California <br /> Dear Ms Meays <br /> This report summarizes the results of the environmental investigation conducted during the fourth <br /> quarter 1995 by Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation (Smith Environmental) at the <br /> subject site shown on Figure 1 The work was conducted at the request of the Manteca Unified <br /> School District and San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) The work included <br /> measuring depth to groundwater, collecting groundwater samples from the wells for subjective <br /> and laboratory analyses, evaluating the groundwater gradient <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Two underground storage tanks were removed from the site by SEMCO in June 1993 The <br /> tanks, one 12,000-gallon gasoline and one 12,000-gallon diesel, were removed on June 15, 1993, <br /> and analytical results for soil samples collected during the tank removal recorded elevated <br /> concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons A 1,000-gallon tank had been previously removed <br /> On July 7 through 9, 1993, the former tank location was over-excavated to a depth of 19 feet <br /> below ground surface (bgs) Soil and groundwater samples collected from the excavation on July <br /> 8 and 9, 1993, contained concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), <br /> benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) above method detection limits <br /> On July 12, 1993, an area 20 feet by 35 feet at the south end of the excavation was deepened to a <br /> depth of approximately 23 feet bgs Soil and groundwater samples collected on July 12, 1993, <br /> contained concentrations of TPHg, BTEX and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) <br /> above method detection limits According to the results of confirmation soil samples, residual <br /> hydrocarbon contamination soil appeared mainly confined to the north end of the excavation <br /> W 19433714gtr95 1 <br /> 1260 Graphics Drive - Modesto,CA 95351-1502 (209)579-2221 - Fax(209)579-2225 <br /> Engineering - Consulting Remediation Construction <br />
