1
r
B
3. The tank site is L500+ feet from Teichert' s property
line in the northeasterly direction t-) 41•1cArthur Road,
2,500 feet in the northerly direction to Lynne Road,
and 1, 300'+ to the westerly property line.
4. Property will not be used for anything except aggregate
production in the foreseeable suture of 15 to 20 years.
ECONCMICAL FEASIBILITY
The removal of contaminated soil by excavation near MW-1
does not appear to be economicalaterial
in that 35+ feet of m
must be removed to reach the contamination. That is, an average
of 15 cubic yards of material (or more) must be removed to remove
one cubic yard of contaminated material.
Excavation would be near the maintenance building and would
require shoring. Excavation would also be below the level of the
working pit south of the tank hole and could possibly provide a
better conduit for drainage to enter the ground water from the '
pit.
CONCLUSION
The follwing is in reference to Plate 5 which shows soils,
location of borings, blackhoe pits and levels of contamination
remaining:
1. A portion of the bottom of the tank hole at the
southeast cornet at 28 feet deep still indicates slight
contamination. Laboratory analyses indicate no TPH, no
benzene, and very low levels of toluene, E-benzene, and
xylene which are judged to be within acceptable limits
when left in place.
2. t411-1 (BH-1) indicates some minor horizontal migration
at depths of 20 ' and 35 ' . Soils analyses in Ba-1 above
20 feet deep and below 35 feet were negative.
Contamination is well below the acceptable level
recommended by the LUFT report, Table 2-5, 2-6, 2-7 and
j 2-B.
BH-2 ir_dicates no migration to the southwest to a depth
of 30 feet. This agrecs with observations during
excavation. The tank hole excavation was not extended
to the southwest because no contamination was indicated —
nor found zn Chat area.
3. Referring to Table 1, the following observations can be
made.
-S-
i
