T
t
The ground water gradient direction is probably influenced
by other large wells located in the gravel plant south of
Teichert, the airport to the west, the concrete pipe plant to the
northwest and wells in the community of Carbona to the northeast.
WM There is probably ground water recharge from the Delta
Mendota Canal and the California Aquaduct which are located
approximately 1 to 1-1/2 miles southwest.
The Teichert gravel mining operation uses large quantities
of water; and this water is ponded on site for percolation and
y , evaporation in ponds located about 1500 feet north of the tank
site.
DRAINAGE
The area around the maintenance shop slopes to the south.
An area of 1 to 2 acres around the shop drains to the aggregate
working pit. The floor of the pit is 25 to 30 feet below the
ground surface at the tankhole.
The surface area around the shop is unpaved but is well
compacted sands, silts, clay and gravel, and is relatively
- , imp_rviouc
STREAMS
There is one stream flowing from Elk Ravine located about
one mile south of the site. Localized drainage is to the deep
working pit immediately south of the maintenance shop. Water in
the work pit evaporates or percolates.
SEPTIC TANKS
The plant is serviced by a septic tank system and leach--
field located about 1200+ feet northeast of the maintenance shop.
UTILITIES
There are no underground utilities in the area of the
storage tanks.
BUILDING
The maintenance building adjoins the tank hole and has a
concrete slab floor. Some vapors may be found under this slab;
however, a survey using an OVA--128 meter revealed --no-sign-
vapors
sign vapors entering the maintenance shop. The building is corrugated
metal.
