,4 1.0 Introduction <br /> ' IT Corporation (IT) is pleased to submit this Preliminary Investigation Evaluation Report to the <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) as <br /> requested by Ms Mary Cooper from the Division of the State Architect (DSA) All work on the <br /> project was performed in accordance with IT Corporation's contract with DSA (Agreement No <br /> UT 081R) <br /> 2.0 Site Description <br /> ' This section describes the site location, site geology and previous site work <br /> ' 2.1 Site Location <br /> The Stockton Developmental Center - Boiler Plant site is located at 510 East Magnolia Street in <br /> ' Stockton (San Joaquin County), California (Figure 1 - Site Location Map) The former <br /> underground tank and underground product piping system is located south of the boiler plant at <br /> ' the facility (Figure 2 - Site Plan) <br /> 2.2 Site Geology <br /> Based on observations of soil types from Geoprobe bonngs installed as part of this site <br /> investigation, subsurface materials consist of interbedded silt, silty clay and clayey silt with some <br /> minor sands to a depth of at least 3 5 feet below ground surface (bgs) Previous work performed <br /> by IT in January 1997 at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery site, located approximately 1500 <br /> ' feet north of the subject site, indicated the depth to groundwater in the area was between 45 and <br /> 50 feet bgs <br /> 2.3 Previous Work <br /> ' On August 1, 1996, four 10,000 gallon single-walled steel USTs and associated underground <br /> product piping were removed from the site by Ramcon Engineering and Environmental <br /> Contracting, Inc (Ramcon) of West Sacramento, California On October 23, 1996, Ramcon <br /> removed a fifth 10,000 gallon single-walled steel UST from the same location All five of the <br /> ' USTs were used to store diesel fuel for the boilers at the site The removed LISTS were <br /> transported to Triangle Inc in Sacramento, California for lawful disposal <br /> ' SAC/08-29-97/ENG/771744 2 <br />
