r
Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report
Former BLUE STAR GASOLINE STATION
4040 East Main Street, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr.Khalid Amer,property owner,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. (AGE)has
prepared this report for the property at 4040 East Main Street, Stockton, California(the site). The
location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. Major features on the site and soil probe boring
locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
The work was performed to assess for potential environmental concerns associated with the
operation of a former gasoline service station at the site. The work was performed in accordance with
guidelines of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board for the investigation of
underground storage tanks (UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
4 A gasoline station and mini-mart previously occupied the site. Three USTs operated at the eastern
edge of the site for approximately forty years and were removed from the site in March 2002 by
AGE. The UST system also included two dispensers at the northern portion of the site.
2.L SITE DESCRIPTION
a.
The site is bounded on the north by Main Street and on the east by Oro Avenue. A single structure
occupies the central portion of the site. Residential and/or commercial properties lie north beyond
Main Street and south of the site.
`" 2.2. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC CONDITIONS
The site is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California, a large, elongate
northwest tending, asymmetric structural trough. The Great Valley Province has been filled with
thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to recent, creating a nearly flat lying
alluvial plain, which extends from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains
in the north. The western and eastern boundaries of this province are comprised of the California
Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively. Rocks composing the basement complex of the
province have not been completely defined but are believed to be of metamorphic and igneous
origin. The Great Valley Province has been subdivided into two major divisions identified as the
Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys.
Iv
&W Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc.
$00
