WELL CONSTRUCTION REPORT AND QUARTERLY MONITORING REPORT
FORMER DIAMOND LUMBER- MANTECA
AUGUST, 1996
The samples were labeled with the date, time and identifying well number, then placed into a
cooler at 4° C, and then transported to the laboratories under continuous chain-of-custody (COC)
documentation
3.7.3 Soil Sampling
Soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals to approximately 25-feet below ground surface
(bgs) in each soil boring Samples were collected through the auger in three, 6-inch long brass
sleeves inside a 2-inch diameter split-spoon sampler The sampler was driven ahead of the auger
by a 140-pound hammer allowed to free-fall 30-mches The brass sleeves and sampler were
washed with an Alconox solution and rinsed with deionxzed water prior to each use
One brass sleeve containing soil from each interval was capped, sealed, labeled with the date, time
and identifying well number, stored in a cooler at 4° Centigrade or less, and transported to a state
' certified laboratory under completed COC documentation Another brass sleeve was used for
hthologic description All field data regarding lithology, recovery and blow counts was recorded
on the boring logs
3.8 Chemical Analyses
3.8.1 Groundwater Analyses
Groundwater samples collected following the well development and quarterly monitoring event
' were analyzed by Sparger Laboratories (Sparger), a state certified laboratory, in accordance with
state guidelines and EPA protocol
' Development samples were analyzed for TPH G and BTEX, and total lead using EPA Methods
8015 Modified, 8020 and 7421,respectively The quarterly monitoring samples were analyzed
for TPH G and BTEX
3.8.2 Soil Analyses
Soil samples were analyzed by Sparger in accordance with state guidelines and EPA protocol
Three samples from each soil boring were selectively analyzed for TPH G and BTEX, using EPA
' Methods 8015 Modified and 8020,respectively
3.9 Survey
tThe new well elevations surveyed by Park on April 9, 1996 are summarized in Table 1
1
1
4
