Diamond Lumber Manteca Quarterly Groundwater Mons Ion ng Page 10
Monitoring wells SRK-MW1, SRK-MW2 and SRK-MW3 have been sampled during each quarterly
sampling event (November 1991, April 1992, and August 1992) Low levels of volatile hydrocarbons
were detected in SRK-MW2 at 2 ppb during the August 1992 sampling event It should be noted
that volatile hydrocarbons have not been detected in the remaining SRK monitoring wells The
constituents of BTEX have not been detected in SRK-MW1 or SRK-MW3 to date, however low
levels of BTEX constituents have been detected in SRK-MW2 during each sampling event Lead
has been detected in each of the SRK monitoring wells during each sampling event
I
There currently are 35 55-gallon drums containing cuttings generated from monitoring well
I
installations (BEI and SRK) and groundwater purged from each of the monitoring wells during
sampling events The contents of each drum was clearly marked on the outside of each container
Pursuant to the San Joaquin County PHS/EHD request (correspondence dated September 21, 1992),
SRK researched the groundwater gradient near the Diamond Lumber facility As previously stated,
information obtained from on-site monitoring wells indicates that the gradient is relatively flat SRK
contacted Mr Jim Podesta (Manteca Public Works Department) who cited the Spring 1992 Semi-
Annual Groundwater Report This document is produced by the San Joaquin County Flood Control
and Water Conservation District, and contains relevant groundwater information Mr Podesta stated
that the groundwater gradient is towards the northwest
i
} It should be noted that SRK was denied permission to install an upgradient monitoring well on the
Southern Pacific right-of-way located south of the site
i
SRK is currently preparing a summdry of the options to address continuing response to the known
subsurface contamination at this property
i
i
zzw+ z•\s 0111
Steffen Robertson and Kirsten
