Manteca Quarte Groundwater MonitorLng Pae 6
SRK was denied permission to install an off-site groundwater monitoring well in the Southern
Pacific Railroad right-o£-way south of the tracks Because of this, soil/groundwater conditions in
this area have not been investigated
The static water levels in each of the three monitoring wells rose significantly since November
1991 likely due to seasonal water table fluctuation The exact amount of precipitation or
infiltration is unknown, however, the elevated levels of volatile hydrocarbons, benzene and
xylenes, may be the result of seasonal fluctuations in the static water table and the associated
flushing action
The groundwater gradient trends N17°E, with a true dip of 2°NE. Available static water level
information indicates that the localized groundwater gradient is significantly flat, which may reflect
extensive agricultural groundwater usage both upgradient and downgradfent from the site
1
1
' 32W4 22\Ptr A.22 Steffen Robertson and Krsten
