ATC Associates Inc
Project No 99975 7501
' GROUNDWATER MONITORING
AND REMEDIATION STATUS REPORT - NO. 5
First Quarter 1999
' 151 South Main Street
Manteca, California
June 28, 1999
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
' This report has been prepared on behalf of Value Reclamation Corporation by ATC Associates,
Inc (ATC)
The purpose of this report is to fulfill quarterly monitoring requirements by the San Joaquin
County Public Health Services(SJCPHS),to maintain a groundwater monitoring history for the
site and to present data addressing the status and effectiveness of the soil and groundwater
remediation program implemented at the site Included in this report are the results of two
monitoring periods performed in April and August 1998 Section 2 0 presents the groundwater
sampling procedures Section 3 0 presents the analytical results and water level measurements
for this monitoring period, and Section 4 0 addresses the remediation program
' 2.0 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES
The locations of the groundwater monitoring wells and other relevant features are shown on
Figure 2 Table 1 summarizes the construction details for all monitoring and co-extraction wells
related to the site investigation
' Following groundwater level measurements, groundwater samples were collected on March 25,
1999 The following protocol was used in obtaining groundwater samples
' Before purging, water levels were measured with an electronic interface tape capable of
measuring the static water level and hydrocarbon product/water interface in one immersion
' Before sampling, the wells were purged to replace stagnant water in the well with fresh
aquifer water The wells were purged using either an air diaphragm or submersible pump
All wells were purged until dry or until four well-volumes of groundwater were removed
The purged water was monitored for temperature, pH and conductivity Purging was
considered complete when these parameters had stabilized When possible, the wells were
sampled after 80 percent or greater recovery Turbidity, dissolved oxygen and oxidation-
Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation Status Report Page I
1
